In a place called Winsted, in Connecticut, a big black bear and a small bear, called a cub, got stuck inside a car. They made a lot of noise and broke many things inside the car. Someone else saw another little bear outside, looking worried. People who take care of animals and the environment came to help. They opened the car and the bears ran back to the forest. But the car was very broken after this. This was just one of three times bears caused trouble in Connecticut in just six days. These stories show that there are more black bears living in Connecticut now. Another time, a bear bit a woman in her garden, but she was okay. The people took that bear away. Also, a very big bear was hit by a car on a road and did not survive. Bears getting into cars and houses is happening more often in Connecticut. Not long ago, people did not see bears doing this in the state. Bears have even gone into a store and eaten some cupcakes before leaving. There have also been a few times bears have hurt people, but not very badly. People who know about bears say if you have bears near your home, you should lock your car and not let bears find food that people eat. They also say there are more bears in Connecticut now than in the past, with maybe 1,000 to 1,200 bears around. They live all over the state, but especially in the northwestern part.
