Superhero movies are about heroes with special powers who help people. These movies usually have a lot of action and magic or space adventures. When we first meet a superhero in a movie, we often learn about how they became super and who their biggest enemy is.
Many superhero movies come from comic books. But some come from TV shows or are new stories made just for movies. For example, "RoboCop" was a new story, and "The Green Hornet" came from a radio show and an old TV show. Superhero movies can also come from cartoons or Japanese comics and shows.
There have been a lot of superhero movies that made a lot of money. The "Spider-Man" movies, "The Incredibles", the "Dark Knight" Batman movies, the Marvel superhero movies, and the DC superhero movies are some of the biggest ones. Marvel movies have earned more than $28 billion.
Superhero stories started in comic books long ago and soon were made into movies. The first ones were in the 1930s and 1940s, with heroes like Superman and Batman. There were also short cartoon movies made about superheroes around that time.
Comic book conventions, also known as comic cons, are fun events where people who like comic books come together. At these events, fans can meet the people who create comics, learn new things, and enjoy being with others who share their interest. People often dress up as their favorite characters, which is called cosplay. These conventions are usually held in big buildings like convention centers or hotels and last for several days.
These events are not just for fun. They are also a place where new comics are introduced, and businesses show what they have related to comics. In the past, comic cons were put together by fans who loved comics and didn't want to make money. Now, many of these events are run by companies to earn money.
At these events, fans can get autographs from comic book writers and artists, who sometimes ask for money to sign things or draw pictures. Even though it costs money to go to these big events, people still enjoy them. They started a long time ago and the first big comic book convention happened in New York City in 1964.
Over time, comic book conventions have grown a lot. Some events even give out special awards for the best comics. Comic cons used to be more about reading and enjoying comics, but now they include fans and professionals together. They've become an important tradition for comic book lovers everywhere.
Blockbuster (entertainment)
Blockbuster was a big store in America where people could rent movies, video games, and even watch movies in a cinema. A man named David Cook started it in 1985. The Blockbuster logo, which many people know, was made by Lee Dean. The store became really popular all over the world in the 1990s. In 2004, Blockbuster had lots of employees and thousands of stores.
But things started to go wrong because the bosses didn't make good choices, and there was a big money problem called the Great Recession. Also, Netflix, which sends movies by mail, and other new ways to watch movies made it hard for Blockbuster. They didn't earn much money and had to say they couldn't pay their debts in 2010. The next year, another company called Dish Network took over Blockbuster's stores. By 2014, they closed most of them. Some stores that were owned by other people stayed open, but in 2019, there was only one left in Bend, Oregon.
Blockbuster started from a different company that David Cook had. He made that company to help oil and gas businesses with computer stuff in Texas, but it didn't do well. His wife, Sandy, wanted to start a movie business, so David sold his first company and used the money to open a video store in Dallas.
