Odysseus, Moon Machine, Lands and Sends Photos

A machine from a company called Intuitive Machines has landed on the moon! This machine is called a lunar lander, and its name is Odysseus. It landed near the moon's south pole. Even though it fell over on its side, it is still able to send pictures back to Earth. These pictures show a part of the moon we haven't seen much before. The lunar lander landed last Thursday and is the first one from the United States to land on the moon in over 50 years. Because it is on its side, it has trouble talking to Earth and getting power from the sun. The lander has solar panels that need sunlight to make electricity. Once it stops getting sunlight, it will not work anymore. This is expected to happen very soon. The lunar lander was doing a special job for NASA and had six science experiments on it. It was supposed to keep working until the moon became dark at night, which happens every month. But now, because it is lying on its side, it will stop working sooner. Intuitive Machines is very special because it is the first private company to land a machine on the moon without it breaking. Another company tried too, but their spacecraft had problems and crashed. Everyone is excited to see the new photos of the moon and learn more from this mission. Even though the lander is not standing up, it is still doing a great job.

Japanese Lunar Exploration Program

They went to a place called the International Space Station. Axiom Space wants to make a new space station that anyone can use to do different things like science and making things in space. The people who work at Axiom Space used to work at NASA, which is America's space group. They sent the Axiom Mission 1 to the space station with a rocket from another company called SpaceX. This happened in April 2022. Michael T. Suffredini, who helps run Axiom Space, worked at NASA before for 10 years. Kam Ghaffarian, who also helps run Axiom, is a smart person who made another company that works with NASA. Now, Axiom Space is working with NASA to add parts to the space station so that more people can go to space in the future.
