Space is a big place where spaceships go. Before, only governments had spaceships. They used them to learn about space and fly to far places like the moon. Now, other groups, not just governments, have spaceships too. People who have their own spaceships are called private spaceflight companies. This is different from the government space groups like NASA. These companies build their own spaceships. They use them to send robots and people into space. Some people can even take a trip to space, but it costs a lot of money. There are some famous companies that do this: - SpaceX - Blue Origin - Rocket Lab - Virgin Galactic - Axiom Space - Sierra Space They are making new rockets and going on space trips. This means more people can learn about space and do new things there. Long ago, only America and Russia could send things to space. They used special pilots for this. But now, other people can send things to space too.

There is a big space house called the International Space Station. It is up in space above the Earth. People do science work there. They learn about space and how it changes our bodies. They look at how muscles and bones change in space. This helps us know if we can live in space for a long time or go to far places like Mars. Doctors also do special health tests in space. They use a machine called an ultrasound to see inside the body. This is hard because there are no doctors in space. They get help from doctors on Earth. What they find out can help people on Earth, too, especially where doctors are far away. Scientists in the space house also study plants. They want to see how being almost without weight changes how plants grow.

India is working on a big space project called Gaganyaan. This project is by a group called ISRO. They want to send spaceships with people inside into space. There will be three spaceships without people first, in 2024. Then, a spaceship with people will go after that in 2024. Before they told everyone about Gaganyaan in August 2018, ISRO didn't focus on sending people into space. However, they had been learning how to do it since 2007. They did some tests to get ready for the mission. The government said they could use a lot of money to send 2 or 3 astronauts into space for 7 days. If India does this well, it will be the fourth place to send people into space on its own. The first three are the Soviet Union/Russia, America, and China. Later, ISRO wants to build its own space house, land on the moon with people, and send people to other planets. ISRO started thinking about sending people into space in 2007. They planned to make a space car for two people to fly around Earth. They got some money from the government to start working on this project in 2007 and 2008. They thought it would take seven years and more money to make a space car for people. In February 2009, the government of India said yes to start working on sending people into space.
