This is my current position. I focus mainly on Cambridge exam preperation here as well as general instruction for young learners or adults with little experience. I also do conversational classes for adults that need a native speaker to guide them.
Interests: After graduating with a BA in only 3.5 years, I decided to take a gap year before graduate school. I started teaching English at a high school in southern Thailand and it completely changed my life! I re-routed my career and decided to focus solely on teaching.
This career change led me to Europe where I began teaching English at a private school in Spain. I loved it but as with the whole world, Covid threw me for a loop and the school I was working at was forced to shut down permanently. I have since found work at a new school that I adore but the hours are only part time. I am hoping that with students from Cambly, I can fill up my schedule while meeting new students from around the world.
At my current school as with my former I am accustomed to preparing lessons on quite literally anything. I have formal training regarding Cambridge exam preperation and am quite familiar with it especially with the Preliminary and First Certificate exams (B1 & B2). That being said I have had to prepare students for all types of exams and reasons. Some are simply looking to improve their general spoken English while others need to start from the beginning. I also have students studying for specialized exams that are in English but not about English. For example, I had an adult learner preparing for an avation exam! I had to study aeronautical sciences and really learn some of the more technical terms to properly teach him and while it was one of my most challenging classes it was very interesting for me! He ended up passing the exam and it was one of the most rewarding teaching experiences I have had. I am hoping to have more like this on Cambly!
