I've always worked. I amaze myself with the many different job opportunities I've taken on, and the eclectic array of jobs...Wow!
Interests: I am in my 50's ( time flies) with a youthful spirit and an enthusiastic heart for life’s simple and extraordinary moments. As a pass-time, I’ve dabbled in film acting, and have run a few 5k runs and a couple of marathons ( one I ran with a collapsing knee ) but I have not been on a film set for quite some time, and as for running, I still do it; I'm very much into keeping healthy and fit, actually ... I also enjoy yoga and pilates. Other things that I like is good food and fun adventures in cooking, great film and awesome popcorn, ... reading a good book, writing, nature and animals, ... I just adore cats ( I'm a bit of a cat whisperer, actually), and I enjoy learning and practicing languages. I study the French language quite regularly, and sometimes ASL. As for teaching, I was raised by two awesome parents, and my mother was an English teacher. How cool is that? My mother’s passion for language and for education definitely rubbed off on me! I’ve taught ELA in both special education settings and in regular classroom settings, and I’ve done plenty of substitute teaching and tutoring (both one to one and small group). I especially like one to one tutoring. In my early years of college, I tutored Vietnamese-speaking college students. It was a volunteer work assignment, and out of all the volunteer opportunities, I chose that one and it turned out to be an excellent choice! For that assignment, I met-up with six students three times a week, for a full semester. We met in the campus library and I was happy to help the students with English word pronunciation, vocabulary, and sentence structuring ( syntax ). The students loved coming to my sessions. ... Travel? I love it! I've been to many places within the U.S and have traveled to a few countries in Europe. I am preparing to travel much more! As an English language tutor with Cambly, I am excited to help students build their language speaking skills. I can’t wait to join you on your language learning journey. I very much look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your language goals! Let’s talk!
