I currently work as a sports reporter and anchor for the local NBC affiliate, KING 5, in Seattle.

Interests: When I was 7 years old, I walked into a kindergarten classroom where all anyone spoke was Spanish.

At the time, all I knew was English.

Three years later, I was fluent in Spanish.

I've experienced first hand not only the benefits of being bilingual, but the best strategies for becoming bilingual. I know the best way to learn a new language is to completely immerse yourself in it. It's to get to a point where you're thinking in that language, not just translating word for word from your native language.

I plan to use these techniques to get my students as confident in English as I became in Spanish.
