Profession: English Language Instructor
English Language Instruction
I first taught English as a second language in 1989 in Chiang Mai, Thailand at MLCC Multi-Language Communication Center. Since then I have taught students of all ages from various walks of life in Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, China and Laos.
Interests: One of my favorite activities is hiking and taking photographs and video of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects. One experience, which had a profound influence on me, happened when I was ten years old. I was swimming underwater with my eyes open, in a clear river in northwest Ontario. I saw what I thought was another youngster swimming towards me. As we came face to face, I suddenly realized it was a beaver. My jaw dropped in surprise and I inadvertently swallowed a mouthful of water. The beaver appeared to be just as surprised as I was. I surfaced, spit out the water and shouted to my brothers "There's a beaver in the river! " That was one of the first of many amazing, close encounters I've had with wild creatures around the world since then.
